Embreeville Complex Re-Development
1818 West Strasburg Rd., West Bradford, PA 19382
West Bradford Township plans to acquire portions of tax parcels 50-8-9 and 50-8-9.4. The land was formerly the site of the Chester County Almshouse and the Embreeville State Hospital for psychiatric patients. The Township proposes to re-develop approximately 185 acres of land as a public park, and is applying for Federal funding to assist with the purchase.
Montrose Environmental Group is assisting with the application and has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) on behalf of the Township. The EA summarizes the history of the property, the significant natural and cultural resources of the land, and the potential opportunities for both passive and active recreation to future visitors. It also provides an evaluation of potential impacts of the development on specific resources.
In accordance with Chapter 4b(2) of National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund State Assistance Program, the Township is providing the public with an opportunity to comment on the EA. The EA will be posted on the Township’s website, and a hard copy of the EA will be will be available for viewing at the Township office. Comments will be accepted for 30 days beginning April 30, 2021.
For additional information, or instructions on how to view the EA and provide comments, please contact the Township at 610-269-4174.
