Mission and Organizational Statement

The Land Preservation and Sustainability Committee (”LPSC”) is a five to seven-member advisory committee to the Board of Supervisors. The members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors for terms of three, two and one year terms. The members serve without compensation and must be residents of the Township. The mission and responsibilities of this Committee are contained in Resolution 22-17, and include matters related to open space, land preservation and sustainability.

MISSION:  The committee of five (5) to seven (7) members shall advise the Board of Supervisors of West Bradford and assist in accomplishing the following matters:

  • Land Preservation – Identify and provide listings of properties that may be important for land preservation programs and to inform property owners of the benefits and processes for preservation of land.  As directed by the Township Manager (or his/her designee), work with certified land preservation organizations to accomplish land preservation projects and provide periodic information to the public regarding the benefits of the land preservation programs.
  • Create and/or promote tree planting along stream corridors and other environmentally sensitive areas.
  • Promote opportunities to assist land owners with proper land management practices such as rain gardens, wild flower meadows and reforestation.
  • Encourage community reforestation programs.
  • Education programs related to:  Planting and maintaining of native species, stormwater and erosion controls, composting and reuse of natural materials, removal and control of invasive species, reduction of herbicides, pesticides, and lawn fertilizers, establishing backyard habitat, promoting the naturalization of stormwater basins in existing developments.
  • Promote proper recycling within the scope of the Township Recycling program and explore opportunities for recycling that are reasonable and cost effective.
  • When requested, assist other township committees on multi-modal transportation opportunities.
  • Provide education and programing to promote energy conservation and the use of renewable energies.
