Overview

The Recreation Commission consists of seven members. The members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and serve a term of four years. The members serve without compensation.

The Commission has been established to review and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on the maintenance, use, and improvement of existing recreational facilities and the acquisition and development of new facilities. Other duties include working closely with the Township Parks Department in recommending the creation of new recreation programs and contracts with groups that provide recreational services to the Township.

An important duty is the review of new development proposals, about the adequacy of open space, park land, trails, or other recreational areas. Additionally, the Commission develops, recommends, and periodically reviews ordinance provisions that relate to the preservation of open space, development of recreation areas, and management of these areas. The Commission continues to monitor and update the "Open Space, Recreation, and Environmental Resources Plan" of the Township.
